2010 MTV Video Music Awards Wrap-Up

On Sunday night the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards were held, and it was a huge night for our beloved Lady GaGa. She won a total of 8 awards, including the biggest of the night, Video of the Year. You can find a bunch of videos of performances and acceptance speeches I particularly enjoyed after the jump.

Lady GaGa is interviewed on the red carpet and is presented with her first 2 awards of the night, for Best Dance Video for "Bad Romance" and Best Collaboration for "Telephone." She also explains some very special guests with her on the red carpet as she takes an important stand on Don't Ask, Don't Tell:

Here she accepts for Best Pop Video:

And finally, here she is, with tears streaming down her face, winning the most coveted award of the night for Video of the Year (which is presented to her by none other than CHER!). She also reveals the title of her new album and sings a piece of the title track:

As far as performances went, I thought this year was lacking a bit, especially after all the incredible performances last night from artists like Lady GaGa, Pink and Beyonce. But here are a few I did enjoy...first, Florence + the Machine's performance of "Dog Days Are Over" was INCREDIBLE:

Also, Kanye West's performance of his new song, "Runaway" was especially interesting to be done at the same venue as his Taylor Swift incident exactly one year later. I thought the song was awesome and the performance's visuals were pretty cool too:

And finally, last but not least, the incredible Robyn actually got face time on the main awards show! Unfortunately, it was very short, but she was still incredible as usual. Here she is performing (a small piece) of a remix to "Dancing On My Own"...go her!!:

So there were my personal highlights from this year's awards. So happy for my girl GaGa..."Bad Romance" is an incredible video and deserved all the acclaim it got. It will for sure go down as one of the most iconic music videos ever and will be remembered and recreated in popular culture for a long time to come.
