First, Robyn did a live chat on Los Angeles radio station's KIIS FM yesterday. She answered questions that were submitted via twitter and she answered TWO of mine! (They even read my twitter name to her for the first one!) You can see the chat on the video posted below. The first question of mine she answers 18 minutes in, and the second one is 24 minutes in. Also please note that Robyn does not come on the video until about 13 minutes in, so scroll there if you want to watch it from the beginning:
Just in case you couldn't or didn't want to watch the video, I thought I'd transcribe my two questions and her answers here:
My Question: How did you discover you could rap?
Robyn:I dunno if I can, I just pretend!
My Question:What was the inspiration for "Be Mine!"? So excited for Wed's show! Any chance you'd sing "Bum Like You"?
Robyn: "Be Mine" is gonna be in there, but not "Bum Like You." I'm trying to do as many of the new songs as possible. The inspiration for "Be Mine" is the good old heartbreak situation that we all know.
JoJo (KIIS FM DJ): Do you have a heartbreak situation that it was based upon specifically or just a generic, fictional story you wrote about?
Robyn: I've totally been heartbroken a couple times in my life but I wouldn't say that when I write songs I write about it like exactly how it was. I don't think it would be as interesting. I think song writing is about creating a situation where people really can relate to that emotion. That's not always about being honest.
JoJo:Is it like writing a movie? Like a script?
Robyn:Exactly. But it's still honest in the emotion and what you want to get out there and how it felt. But there was no girl in the subway station, no shoe laces and no scarf.
Also, Robyn performed an exclusive DJ set at the Renaissance Hotel in Hollywood last night, and I of course went. She was great...got really into the music, did some cool dance moves, got everyone on their feet cheering the whole time. She even included Madonna's "Justify My Love" in her set, and a remix of her own "Konichiwa Bitches." You'll find more photos after the jump.
