Song of the Week (Week of August 22, 2010)

So every Sunday I'm going to pick a song of the week and stream it here, along with the lyrics and a short explanation of why I picked the song.

This week's song is a track from Robyn's upcoming album "Body Talk, Part 2" titled "Indestructible (Acoustic)." The album will be released in the U.S. on September 7th but it leaked on the internet awhile ago. This song is a perfect example of the brilliance and depth of Robyn. Compare this track to her bubble gum of the 90's...it is a world of difference musically and lyrically.

The violins are just beautiful and the dramatic instrumentation perfectly matches the dramatic depth of the lyrics. Not very many other pop stars put their heartbreak, sadness, and hurt on display for all to hear quite as emotionally raw as Robyn does. You can feel her pain, how she's been hurt in the past time after time but that she's ready to give love another chance because this time it sounds like she's found someone who is different. Not only can you feel her emotion, but you can easily relate if you've ever been hurt by love before and have been skeptical to give it another try because of the eloquence of the lyrics. Enjoy!
