Song of the Week (Week of November 7, 2010)

Today's song is, yes, another Robyn song. This song, "In My Eyes," is the opening track of Robyn's "Body Talk Part 2" album. I have always loved this song: sweet lyrics, awesome melody, a mixture of sincerity and sass from Robyn's tone. The reason I'm picking the song this week though is because of a friend of mine's interruption of the lyrics. He said that he imagines Robyn singing these lyrics to all the young gay kids right now struggling with bullying and thinking of committing suicide. And it totally fits!

Robyn couldn't have written the song specifically for that reason, as the album was released just as the suicide epidemic began, but there is definitely some messages there to all those at there who feel different and unaccepted. Lyrics like "And though I bet you think it's better on the inside there with them/We're better off outside looking back in" are just so inspirational and great to hear. So enjoy this great song with an awesome message.
